Savio, Srugi earn q-final slots

TEAMS Savio and Srugi clinched a slot to the quarterfinal round as they ended the elimination with a clean slate after a dominating win over their foes in the DB@201 Basketball Tournament 2016 at the Don Bosco Technology Center gym in Barangay Punta Princesa last weekend.

Savio showed its force in the final day of elimination as they slammed Zatti, 88-59, to finish with a 3-0 card and advanced to the quarterfinals as the No. 1 squad in Bracket C.

John Velasco and Sam Parcon and Paulo Lumapas were the lead stars as Savio eliminated Zatti, who finished with a 1-2 standing.

Velasco waxed hot in the third canto and finished with 23 points, Parcon provided the spark in the fourth frame and came up with 21 markers.

Lumapas contributed 18 points, which was highlighted with a 10-point binge in the first quarter. Savio takes on Bracket D No. 2 Cafasso in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Srugi also finished the elimination round with a clean 3-0 card and will be going to the quarterfinals as the No.1 team in Bracket B. Srugi pulled off an 80-57 victory over Beltrami, who was eliminated with a 1-2 slate.

Keane Matias exploded for Srugi with 21 markers, while Steve Sadaya and Inting Escobedo combined for 21 points.

In the quarterfinals, Srugi tangles with Bracket A No. 2 Clifford, who inked a 125-53 win over Namuncura and finished with 2-1 record.

Completing the quarterfinals matchup will be Bracket A No. 1 Magone who plays Bracket B No. 2 Pasarelle; and Bracket D No.1 Mertens who faces Bracket C No. 2 Caravario.
