Matteo makes celebration all about Cebu
Former kart racer wants everyone to know about Cebu on his showbiz birthday
From an 11-year-old multi-awarded kart racer to a performing arts enthusiast, Matteo Guidicelli is about to celebrate his 10th year in the showbiz industry. And he wants to pay tribute to where it all began by carrying the Cebuano brand.
In a press conference held in the Guidicelli family-owed Italian restaurant in Banilad, Trattoria Da Gianni, Guidicelli announced his upcoming concert at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Nov. 18. He calls it: “Matteo Made in Cebu.” Unknown to many, the former Dolce
Amore star attended Columbia College in Chicago for two years to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts in the field of Musical Theater, which explains his inclination to music and playing instruments. He puts his knowledge in music to good use in his song covers for his album and for his first major concert in his hometown.
Together with his musical director Louie Ocampo and his director Rowell Santiago, Guidicelli admitted that planning the concert took them almost five months.
“I guess it’s my journey talaga from day one to the 10th year. It’s a celebration of everything. Of me being Bisaya, of me being Cebuano and me enjoying life and spreading the good vibes to everybody,” said Guidicelli.
The upcoming “major” concert will be a far cry from his first ever concert held almost a year ago entitled “MG1,” which was held at the Music Museum.
“It’s going to be different because the taste of Rowell Santiago is different. Sir Louie’s kind of music is kind of different also. We also have a lot of new songs to cover and we also have a lot of old songs that I’m going to be covering that you’ll be shocked na ‘Uy
bakit alam niya ‘yun (How come he knows that)?’”
As he will be celebrating his 10th anniversary through an upcoming concert, Guidicelli said he has learned a lot after a decade in the showbiz industry.
“It’s still a short time but I think it’s a stepping stone. Ten years have passed and maraming mga challenges and
maraming mga learning aspects. Big maturity. My life has grown big time in showbiz,” said Guidicelli.
As the concert will be highlighting him as a Cebuano, he will also be performing together with Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan, a Cebuana. Concert King Martin Nievera is also a special guest. Guidicelli will also be performing with the G-Force Dancers and Visayan singer Kurt Fick, who is behind the hit Hahaha
Hasula. The star, however, admitted that his girlfriend, Sarah Geronimo, will not be guesting in his concert.
Having always made it a point to give back, the proceeds of the show will be given to the Kythe Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of life of hospitalized children with cancer and chronic illness.
Despite having more than a month to rehearse for his show, Guidicelli confessed that he is somehow afraid to perform for the Cebu crowd having heard that they are quite hard to please. What keeps him going, however, is his team and his main motivation for the concert which is to let everybody have fun and enjoy.
Guidicelli said that he’s hoping to take the concert to other provinces and to even bring it to Metro Manila and outside the Philippines in the future. And in his future tour, he wants to tell the whole world that he is indeed a proud Cebuano.
