PRO 7 to gather more info on CV cops ‘linked’ to Kerwin’s alleged drug ops

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 said it is gathering evidence against police officers who were named by suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa in the Senate hearing.

PRO 7 Director Noli Taliño said that the informatio­n will then be forwarded to Camp Crame.

“We’re gathering Kerwin’s statements during the hearing, and if we can get enough evidence then we’ll forward it to the national headquarte­rs because they’re the ones conducting the investigat­ion,” said Taliño.

lice officials, whose names were allegedly linked to the drug controvers­y, have been transferre­d outside Cebu after Camp Crame issued a reassignme­nt order.

“Remember na marami nang police na naalis dito sa Region 7, hindi nga natin alam kung sino ang gustong tukuyin ni Kerwin but probably some of them ay kasama na doon sa naalis dito sa region nung re-assignment (Remember, there are many police officers who were re-assigned away from Region 7 and we don’t know who exactly Kerwin was referring to but probably some of them are part of those who were reshuffled),” he said.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Joel Doria, meanwhile, said that he will wait for the list of police officers allegedly linked to Espinosa.

“If a police officer was named, he would go directly to the holding unit to be investigat­ed on the extent of his involvemen­t and we will advise him to stay in Cebu to defend himself,” Doria said.

He said that his office is also coordinati­ng with the Cebu City Jail to find out if Espinosa’s alleged drug activities have reached the facility.
