Danao City, Liloan top performers in campaign against illegal drugs
THE Cebu Provincial AntiDrug Abuse Office (CPADAO) recognized yesterday the top performing cities, municipalities, barangays and police stations in the fight against illegal drugs.
The recognition was given based on the top-performing anti-drug abuse councils, among others.
Those recognized are Danao City, which earned first place in the city category; Liloan, which earned first place in the municipality category; and Barangay Uling in Naga City, which earned first place in the barangay category.
Danao City Police Station and the Consolacion Police Station were named top performing city and municipal police sta- tions, respectively.
During the awarding ceremony, Gov. Hilario Davide III asked the local government units (LGU) and the police to continue the fight against illegal drugs.
“We are really serious about this campaign,” he said.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, for her part, stressed the importance of education in rehabilitating drug dependents.
She said the Provincial Government will give scholarships to surrenderers.
Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, director of the Police Regional Office 7, thanked the LGUs and the police for their “outstanding performance” and for supporting the Project Double Barrel.
In the Double Barrel pro- gram, two triggers will be set off with one touch of the barrel. There’s a barrel that goes after high-value targets while the other barrel targets street-level personalities.
Their support, Taliño said, resulted to the reduction of crimes and the use of illegal drugs.
Aside from earning the first place, Talisay City and Liloan received P500,000 while Barangay Uling, and the top performing police stations received P300,000.
Other winners recognized by CPADAO in the city category are Carcar City (second), Bogo City (third), Naga City (fourth) and Talisay City (fifth).
For the municipality category, CPADAO awarded 15 munici- palities that include Consolacion (second) and San Francisco (third).
For the barangay category, CPADAO awarded 24 villages that include Panadtaran in San Fernando (second) and Consolacion in Dalaguete (third).
The other winners for the top performing city police stations are Bogo City (second), Talisay City (third), Carcar City (fourth) and Naga City (fifth).

The awarding ceremony dubbed as “Sugbo Kontra Droga” or Sukod Program was held yesterday at the Grand Convention Center.
