Toledo shooting claims 1 life

Police say victim is in the watch list, involved in the illegal drug trade

A MAN who is allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade and is in the watch list of the police was shot dead by two unidentifi­ed motorcycle-riding gunmen in Toledo City yesterday afternoon.

Police identified the casualty as Salem Aligada Sabroso, 32, a resident of Barangay Magdugo.

PO3 Marciano Suarez Jr. of the Toledo City Police Station said the shooting incident in Barangay Ibo was first reported at 3 p.m. as a vehicular accident.

The traffic personnel who went to the area said it was a shooting incident.

The traffic personnel then brought the victim to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

Sabroso received multiple gunshot wounds on the left part of his body, which resulted in his death.

Suarez went to the hospital and checked the body of the victim.

Among the items recovered from Sabroso are 9mm pistol, ammunition and P3,500.

According to the witnesses, the police officer said the gunmen had been tailing Sabroso.

The victim was riding his motorcycle when he was shot.

Based on the report they received, Suarez said Sabroso could dispose of 50 to 100 grams of illegal drugs per week and has been at large since Nov. 5.

Desk officer Roselito Gelol also said Sabroso was monitored by the police for two to three months.
