Drug, MJ ‘peddler’ killed while asleep

-

A MAN was shot by three unidentified assassins while he was sleeping in Barangay Guinacot, Danao City yesterday.

Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, the city police chief, identified the victim as Arnold Barriga, 48, and reportedly a known marijuana in the village.

He said Barriga reportedly can dispose of a kilo of marijuana per week. The victim reportedly directly sourced his supply from the planters in the city’s mountain villages.

Batobalonos said that Barriga also sidelined in selling shabu.

The attack on the victim, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, happened at 1:30 a.m.

A witness told the police that the driver of the motorcycle stayed outside the house of Barriga.

His two passengers went inside and peppered Barriga with bullets.

The culprits then left a cardboard with a written message, “Pusher Wag Tularan (A pusher, don’t follow him),” near the body of Barriga.

The witness, however, failed to take a closer look at the faces of the culprits.

Batobalonos said that Barriga surrendered to police during Oplan Tokhang last July, with a promise not to engage in the illegal drug trade anymore.

Intelligence monitoring, however, showed that Barriga continued with his alleged illegal drug business.

Barriga had a pending drug case in the regional trial court based in the city.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Mac Cyrus Angeles was shot to death by two men riding in tandem on board a motorcycle in Barangay Lamac, Consolacion at 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

Investigators are still investigating the attack.
