AIDA Cruises holds recruitment caravan
AIDA Cruises, Germany’s leading cruise line, in cooperation with Magsaysay Maritime Corp. (MMC), recently held a series of recruitment caravans in Boracay and Cebu.
The activity was aimed at providing seagoing career opportunities to qualified applicants.
The first leg of the caravan was held on Oct. 24 to 28 at the MMC Cebu Branch in Cebu City.
Out of the 561 applicants from Cebu, Bohol, Leyte and other neighboring provinces, 144 were hired.
On Nov. 7, the second leg of the caravan kicked off at the Malay Action Center in Boracay Island, Aklan to accommodate applicants from Western Visayas and nearby provinces.
The event, which ended on Nov. 9, recruited 163 locals out of the 650 applicants.
The new hires will occupy hospitality positions on board AIDA vessels, including bar, galley, housekeeping, food and beverages, spa, photography and provision departments.
The recruitment activities were spearheaded by Imke Mecke, senior manager for recruitment of AIDA Cruises; Deanne Joyce Vallar, MMC fleet manager for AIDA; Michaela Monteverde, MMC fleet officer for AIDA; Dennis Belaras and Jinella Marie Castaneda, sourcing specialists of MMC; Baby Hadloc, MMC Cebu branch manager; Auguste Izhar C. Pepito, MMC Cebu sourcing and recruit- ment officer; Hiyas Kristine Homena, MMC Iloilo branch manager; and Myra Hingpit, MMC Bacolod branch manager.
AIDA Cruises has been hiring Filipino crew members since 2006 through MMC.
