Ian Christian Cosido and Flordeliz Joy Pansag of CNU place fourth, ninth, respectively Javee Cose Armamento, who graduated from the University of San Carlos, places eighth

TWO graduates from a state college topped the Licensure Examination for Teachers that was held last Nov. 28.

Ian Christian Cosido placed fourth with a rating of 89.2 while Flordeliz Joy Pansag placed ninth with a rating of 88.20 percent. Both graduated from the Cebu Normal Univer- sity (CNU). Javee Cose Arma- mento, a graduate of the University of San Carlos, placed eighth with a rating of 88.4 percent.

CNU’s College of Education dean Dr. Filomena Dayagbil said she was happy with the results.

She said they expected it since they’ve produced several topnotchers over the years.

Affirmation

“It’s an affirmation and we are so proud. It is normal for us to produce topnotchers.” she said.

Despite the challenges they face, the dean said they’ve always ensured that the department sustains the quality of instruction by hiring competent and committed teachers.

With Cosido and Pansag’s success, the tradition of excellence continues for the school, she said.

“We strategize by hiring research-oriented teachers and consider them as an end-all and be-all of everything,” Dayagbil said.

In a separate interview, Cosido said he had to go through many hardships to top the exam.

As the eldest and a Summa Cum Laude graduate, Cosido said he was very pressured because the school expected to place in the top 10.

“Part of me is happy, and I felt relieved. I am grateful to God and I’m flattered.” Cosido said.

As a person who loves everything about social sciences, he first dreamed of pursuing neurology but financial constraints stopped him from achiev-

ing this goal.

Cosido shared the secret of his success: study hard, pray to God, concentrate and have a peace of mind.

“I just want to do my best and I have my family with me, whatever happens,” Cosido said.

Dayagbil said Cosido sums up a person, who has character and competence.

“I also challenged him. Lipay kaayo mi na consistent jud kaayo mi, pagka nindot na bata.( I was very happy that we are consistent when it comes to topnotchers. Ian was an amazing student),” she said.
