THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 awarded the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) for its successful campaign against illegal drugs.

A Medalya ng Kasanayan (Philippine National Police Efficiency Medal) was awarded to MCPO Director Roberto Alanas and his 55 personnel for earning the highest rating of 93.78 percent.

They bested other police offices of Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Siquijor, Bohol and Cebu Province from July 1 to Oct. 20 this year.

Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, PRO 7 director, pinned the medals on the officials and the non-commissioned officers.

The police official also pinned Medalya ng Kagalingan on PO2 Jayson Estrera and PO1 Protacio Man-on Jr. for wounding and arresting suspected drug pusher Marcelo Ferolino in a shootout in Mandaue City last Sept. 30.

MCPO personnel also received cash reward ranging from P5,000 to P10,000.

Taliño said he empowered the provincial and city directors to relieve station chiefs who are under-performing in implementing Oplan Tokhang and Project High Value Target of the Oplan Double Barrel.

Oplan Double Barrel is an anti-criminality program that aims to catch highprofile criminals or pushers and streetlevel personalities.

Monitoring

When Taliño started his term, he relieved 76 of 126 police station chiefs after they performed poorly in the drive against drugs.

Alanas, for his part, said they are still monitoring drug personalities who are still involved in the trade.

“Hindi natin masasabi na naubos na (We cannot say we’ve rid of them completely),” he said.

The police officials said illegal drug trade and use are still rampant in two of the 27 barangays that comprise Mandaue City.

“Itong ating kampanya ay walay sinosino dito. Kahit pulis ka man, barangay official ka, pulitiko, businessman o mga private person, itini- treat natin sila ng parehas,” said Alanas.
