Nestled on a quiet street right behind gaisano casuntingan, one can find an automotive shop that is a cut above the rest.
Group B Automotive is a full service shop that offers everything a normal shop would, such as preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, and then some.
The shop was started by Atty. Jed Neri, Jess Garcia, Lord Seno, Ian Irving Tan, Jason Go, and Victor Sierra, all who were big fans of the World Rally Championship.
“From 1982 to 1986 was the golden age of motorsport,” Atty. Jed Neri said in an interview. “And the World Rally Championship was run under regulations called Group B.” Hence the name, Group B Automotive, and with the owners interest in race cars, Group B also offers something much more enticing for those who want their cars in tiptop shape.
“We also do High Performance Engine Management Programming, Race Engine Building, Race Car Engineering and Dyno Tuning.”
Group B is also the only shop in Cebu that offers the Chassis Dynamometer, a treadmill for cars, simulating different road conditions without the driver having to drive the car. This can also measure torque and horsepower. This helps one know accurately whether or not the changes made to the engine settings or performance parts installed have a gain or loss.
With such excellent services and standards, it comes as no surprise that Group B has achieved so much. For example, Group B had the honor of tuning the quickest and fastest Subaru STI in the country, the car having 750 horsepower and doing the best quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds.
“In the last Maskarera 2016 race in Bacolod, cars that we tuned finished 1, 2 and 3 in the highest and most prestigious class. Cars that we tuned have also done most of the winning in Cebu races, be it drag or autocross,” Atty. Jed expounded.
With car sales in the metro skyrocketing, Group B keeps up with the trend of the latest technologies, learning and studying to adapt to the changes, and thrive.
