Goering Paderanga dies in hospital, son Gerik critical; guard at large

ASECURITY guard of a construction site last night shot two lawyers, a father and a son, allegedly over the use of road space in Cebu City.
The father, Goering Paderanga, 62, died. The son, Gerik, 37, is critical. Goering is the husband of Cebu Regional Trial Court Judge Sylva Paderanga.

Sanchez, remained at large at press time.
The shooting happened at past 8 o’clock in a narrow interior road on F. Ramos Street, the one between a bank and the old Abuhan.
Details gathered last night said that the shooting may have stemmed from a long-running row over the use of the narrow road where the Paderanga, Iway and Nonato Law Office is located and which also leads to the construction site.
One account says that heavy equipment such as a mixer cannot pass the road when vehicles are parked along it.
Another account says that the residents and locators along the narrow road have been bothered by the passing of the heavy equipment.
Goering Paderanga had filed a temporary restraining order on the construction site, which the court had granted.
A witness on the scene last night said Gerik was on his way out from the law firm when security guard Sanchez approached Gerik’s Isuzu Trooper and shot the law- yer in the head without a word said.
Inside the vehicle was another Paderanga and a helper.
Hearing the shot, Goering went out of his office to check. Seeing Goering, Sanchez shot him too.
Police investigators said Sanchez was waiting outside the office for the two lawyers.
PO3 Jerry Genelaso of the Homicide section said the motive behind the shooting is being looked into.
Police recovered two empty shells of caliber 9mm from the scene.
