5 arrested in city drug busts

FIVE persons were arrested after they were caught in separate drug bust operations in Cebu City last Wednesday night.

At around 9 p.m., Pasil police conducted a buy-bust in Barangay Pasil, which led to the arrest of Emerito Abatol, Jr., 24, the subject of the operation.

The operation was led by Chief Insp. Keith Allen Andaya, Pasil Police chief.

A police officer posed as a buyer who transacted with Abatol in the area.

Abatol was apprehende­d after he handed over the sachet containing alleged shabu to PO3 Jose Edward Acop.

Seized from Abatol were 24 sachets of suspected shabu.

The suspect is now detained while waiting for the filing of criminal complaints for violations of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

On the same day, four persons were also arrested for possession of suspected shabu and drug parapherna­lia in Cebu City.

Suspects were identified as Rubin Noble, 35; Eddie Olmoges, 51, both residents of Barangay Calamba Cebu City; Raymart Ybanez, 21, resident of Barangay Sablayan, Dalaguete, Cebu; and Jess Vincent Zamora, 34, resident of Barangay Guadalupe.

Seized from their possession were three sachets of suspected shabu and drug parapherna­lia.

The suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of RA 9165.
