Police Regional Office 7 and other law enforcemen­t agencies 100 percent prepared for the fiesta’s major events PRO 7 Director Noli Taliño is not taking any chances, saying security is very tight and he does not want anything to slip. PNP encourages everyone to go to the nearest police officer if they see any suspicious-looking person or abandoned package . More than 100 handheld radios will be used by the local police during the cell site shutdown as they target a zero-incident celebratio­n today and tomorrow.

That, as the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 and other law enforcemen­t agencies are 100 percent ready for the major events for the Fiesta Señor today and the grand parade tomorrow.

“Our security is very tight because we don’t want anything to slip. We have a zero incident objective,” PRO 7 Director Noli Taliño said, in a conference yes- terday.

Signals of the radios were checked during their simulation exercise last Wednesday.

Also, K-9 units will roam around the streets to ensure everyone’s safety.

Everyone is encouraged to approach the nearest policeman to report any suspicious-looking person or any package left anywhere near the parade route.

“Hindi ko sinasabing walang threat, paulit-ulit kong sinasabi na wala tayong specific or imminent threat pero yung pangamba ng terrorista ay nandiyan lagi kahit saang lugar pwede nilang targetin (I’m not saying that there’s no threat, I kept repeating that there’s no direct and imminent threat but the worry over terrorists is there because they can make any place their target),” he said, emphasizin­g that vigilance should be practiced by everybody on the field.

The Lead Counter Terrorist Unit of the Armed Forces of the Philippine­s will join in the security as part of Task Force Cebu. /
