Who are the two Team Rama allies in the Cebu City Council who are joining Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK)? If you ask Councilor and Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Philip Zafra, it’s not him. Zafra admitted meeting with BOPK’s Councilor Margarita Osmeña two weeks ago to discuss the problems of the barangays, but he said he remains loyal to Team Rama. “In fairness to the administration, they treated me well. And it might be an action that was misconstrued by others. But for me, I’m just doing my job,” he said.

Cebu City Councilor and Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Philip Zafra finally broke his silence on rumors that he is among the two Team Rama councilors who will be joining the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK).

In an interview yesterday, Zafra clarified that he is still with Team Rama since he became part of the City Government because of his political group and the guidance of former mayor Michael Rama.

Zafra believed that the report about his transfer to BOPK came after he reached out to the group and attended a meeting to discuss some concerns and problems of the barangays.

Some two weeks ago, Zafra met with Councilor Margarita Osmeña and some of the department heads to discuss the longstalled release of the honorarium of barangay workers and the request to add up their fuel allocation, among others.

Zafra said he reached out to the administration because he believed that it was the only way to address the concern.

“In fairness to the administration, they treated me well. And it might be an action that was misconstrued by others. But for me, I’m just doing my job,” he said.

Zafra said that he is willing to bridge the gap between the two political parties in the city to allow smooth giving of services to the people.

Aside from sitting down as ex-officio member of the City Council, Zafra is also the barangay captain of Tisa.

Aside from Zafra, Team Rama councilors Jerry Guardo, Joel Garganera and Pastor Alcover Jr. also earlier denied reports that they will be joining BOPK. /
