Aside from the socialized housing component, Phinma plans to build a 10,000-sq.m BPO office and a 2,000-bed dormitory. The on-site housing project will cost the company about P200 million while the BPO office is projected to cost P2 billion.
Officials of Phinma Properties, Southwestern University-Phinma and local government units of Barangays Sambang 1 and 2 unveiled yesterday Phinma Group’s first in-city housing project in Cebu called Pailob Project. The university donated the land to Phinma Group, and it will be developed by Phinma Properties, which will erect housing units for informal settlers of Sambag 1 and 2 who used to occupy the property and a mixed-used tower for commercial use. The Southwestern Village sits on a one-hectare property, of which 4,000 square meters will be dedicated for the housing project. The on-site housing project will cost P200 million while the BPO office project will cost P2 billion. Completion of the housing project is targeted within the year while the mixed-use development will take three years.

Chito Salazar, president of Southwestern-Phinma, told reporters that the university donated the land to Phinma Group, which will be developed by Phinma Properties.
The real estate arm will erect housing units to benefit infor- mal settlers of Sambag 1 and 2 who used to occupy the property and a mixed-use tower for commercial use.
The housing project is slated to break ground in two months after completion and release of permits, said George Richard Siton, Phinma Properties’ vice president for socialized housing.
The Southwestern Village sits on a one-hectare property. Some 4,000 square meters (sq.m) will be dedicated for the housing project, which will offer socialized and economic housing units.
By next week, Siton said the group will meet the families for one a one-on-one orientation. Residents, he noted, will be offered with two options--either an onsite or off-site relocation.
“The first choice is onsite relocation that would require Pag-ibig membership, and then pre-qualification. For off-site relocation, they have two options either incity location or balik-probinsiya, which they will be given an allowance for the transfer,” said Siton, adding that the offering is both a win-win solution for both parties.
Salazar emphasized that the project is not a doleout.
“This solution works for the community to provide them housing they can call their own. It is going to be owned by them. It is not subsidized by the government. They have to pay through Pag-ibig. It is a good way to give people a better life,” he said.
The housing project consists of two five-storey buildings.
