Grandpa, 65, nabbed, jailed for raping 2 granddaughters
A 65-year-old grandfather was arrested and jailed after he was accused of molesting his six-year-old granddaughter in a mountain barangay in Cebu City before dawn yesterday.
Saying that he was drunk, Nilo (real name withheld to protect the identity of the victim) admitted inserting his finger into the child's genitals.
"Nangutana ko niya, 'lami'? Ana siya nga 'Sakit tay oi! Niya didto ko naluoy (I asked her if it was pleasurable and she answered, 'Tay, it was painful!' That's why I took pity on her)," he said.
He divulged that he also did the same thing to the older sister, aged 8, of the child in December while he was drunk.
Because of the earlier incident, Nilo moved to another house in the same mountain barangay.
Nilo yesterday asked for forgiveness from his family.
The girls were daughters of Nilo's nephew.
The incident was reported before the Women and Children's Protection Desk of the Guadalupe Police Station at 2:30 a.m. yesterday.
Nilo will be charged today before the Cebu City Prosecutor's Office, if the child's parents decide to file a complaint against him.
Under Republic Act 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law, persons who are found to have molested children under 12 years of age, even if there's no consummation of the sex act, will still face charges for rape.
