Jr. NBA back in Cebu

The Jr. NBA Philippine­s 2017 pre- sented by Alaska returns to Cebu for the fifth time this weekend with its third Regional Selection Camp on March 11 and 12 at the Don Bosco Technology Center.

Jr. NBA Philippine­s 2017 has already had two selection camps, one in Cagayan de Oro and the other in Lucena, both last month.

The Regional Selection Camp will be headed by Jr. NBA coach Chris Sumner along with Alaska coaches.

The activities of the first day of the selection camp on Saturday will be Vitals Test and Skills Challenges. The Jr. NBA will then announce the top players who will return for the second day.

The second day will be having Team Drills, Team Challenges and Final Scrimmages. The regional finalists will be announced after.

The top male and female players that will make the cut will advance to the National Training Camp in Manila on May 13 and 14.

The National Training Camp will be graced by an NBA or WNBA player or legend.

A total of eight Jr. NBA and five WNBA players will be selected for the NBA experience trip along with Jr. NBA players from Southeast Asia this year.

The Jr. NBA/WNBA is an internatio­nal youth developmen­t program by the NBA that promotes basketball participat­ion, sportsmans­hip and teamwork, and an active lifestyle among children. The basketball program is free and is open to girls and boys between 10 to 14 years old.

Some of the Jr. NBA products here in the Cebu camp are Mark Tallo, Kib Montalbo and Rendell Senining.

The players selected in the Cebu Regional Selection Camp last year are Fritz Felix Valencia and Harold Alarcon.
