Police mulls case vs. ‘book dealers’

-

The Minglanilla Police Station is looking into the possibility of filing charges of abduction against six persons who reportedly tried to snatch four children in the Minglanilla Central School last Thursday.

Supt. Dexter Calacar, Minglanilla chief, said they will file a case of child abuse against James Kevie Paradela, Rheamay Sagmon, 33, Estela Montes, 50, Marian Serenio, 19, Reymart Abobo, 20, and Federico dela Cruz, 21.

Calacar ordered his personnel to check the background of the arrested persons in other police stations to gather more information about them.

Also included in the investigation will be the place where the six were found, their driver’s license and Social Security System records. These are needed to determine if they are connected to Grolier Philippines, a company selling education materials, like books.

The registration of the L300 van that the six used, which was issued in the National Capital Region (NCR), that the six used was expired.

Even if there were book stands inside the van, there were no reading materials there.

The six were allegedly educational consultants of Cyclophil Educational Promotions of Grolier Philippines.

Meanwhile, a van full of minors that was intercepted in Cordova town was not a kidnapping case but an educational awareness activity on child trafficking.

PO1 Rosilito Andales, of the Cordova Police, said the organizer of the program from the Bidlisiw Foundation didn’t coordinate with them, which prompted a resident to report the matter to the police.

The foundation conducted an Online Safety, Child Trafficking and Where to Go seminar for the minors aged 14 to 17 inside a Starex van.
