Rival clubs Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) shared the spoils of war yesterday, taking home a title each in the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup. DBTC bagged the Boys Under-15 crown, while SHS-AdC took home the Boys Under-13 title at the DBTC football grounds.

The Greywolves overcame an early setback to beat the Magis Eagles, 3-1, in the Boys Under-15 finals.

King Baclado drew first blood with a goal in the 14th minute before Joshua Tabar scored the equalizer in the 33rd minute.

With the match tied 1-1 at halftime, DBTC head coach Glen Ramos made a few changes that would make a huge difference in the second half.

“I made some corrections with our markings. Our defense was relaxed but I changed it to tight markings in the middle third to defend the long balls and we also used counter-attacks,” Ramos said.

DBTC looked like a different squad in the second half and defended well against SHS-AdC’s attacks.

Dustin Ramirez scored the goahead for DBTC goal in the 47th minute and Luis Buyco then sealed the match with a crisp volley just inside the box in the 68th minute.

“I congratulate the players because they followed the game plan and did it on the field. Despite examination week, we were given a chance for extra time to practice,” said Ramos.

Earlier, SHS-AdC outclassed DBTC B in the Boys Under-13 championship, scoring five in extra time for a 6-2 win.

Uriel Villacarlos gave Don Bosco the lead in the 53rd before Kao Osawa, who was named the MVP, scored the equalizer four minutes later.

In extra time, Osawa only needed a minute to score the goahead goal and best midfielder Christian Lumapas followed suit five minutes later. Karl Bascon and Richard Osmeña also scored minutes apart as Don Bosco’s defense collapsed before Osawa capped his hat trick in the 18th.

In other matches, the much anticipated rematch between defending Men’s Open division champion Leylam FC and runner-up Erco Bro FC will be this afternoon at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
