Pacquiao vs. Crawford or Thurman?
Bob Arum has broken his silence. He said he would talk to Amir Khan and convince him to fight Manny Pacquiao. Did I hear it right? Arum is tabling the Pacquiao-Khan fight either in November or December?
If true, that'd mean Pacquiao will be idle for practically 10 months. Will that not make him rusty?
He seems not to care. He's been busying himself with his Senate duties.
Already, Pacquiao has been preoccupied with his committee chairmanship on the hearings of the confirmation of nominee Gina Lopez as environment secretary.
Already, Pacquiao is showing uncharacteristic political confidence even though he is in a highly-charged arena where intellectual workmanship is almost second nature only to the grizzled lawmakers inhabiting it but not the greenhorn Pacman. But, just a second. Is Arum serious about pitting Pacquiao against Khan?
Isn't Khan a bit mediocre for Pacquiao—Khan a mere sparring mate of the eight-division world champion Pacman?
Could this mean Arum has lost his touch—if not fast losing his matchmaking savvy?
Isn't there a more worthy opponent for Pacquiao other than Khan, who is arguably going downhill—if not on the decline already?
Why can't Arum tap instead Terrence Crawford, who is easily one of the most sought-after welterweights today, to tangle with Pacquiao?
Don't our fans deserve only the best? And, seemingly, Crawford fits to a tee?
I'm pretty sure the Pacquiao-Crawford offering would be an interesting fight. To my mind, the fight promises a blockbuster at the tills. To use that worn-out cliché, Crawford could be what the doctor ordered for Pacquiao. And what about this? With Keith Thurman's recent victory over Danny Garcia to unify the WBC-WBA title belts, Pacquiao fighting Thurman next should prove to be more than a dream match.
Never mind if Pacquiao fights only once this year. It's the quality war that matters, anyways.
Either Crawford or Thurman can easily provide that.
Bigger, stronger and very competitive according to Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach, Thurman is no match, however, to the “speed and boxing abilities” of Pacquiao.
So, who said Pacquiao has run out of worthy opponents?
Don't ask me.
