CCCI fosters new alliance for ICT sector
The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has formed an organization to help address the needs of various information and communications technology (ICT) sub-sectors in Cebu.
Named the Innovation Council of Cebu, this new organization aims to create opportunities for stakeholders to organize themselves and build a supportive ecosystem for SMEs in the sector.
CCCI President Melanie Ng said that one benefit of organizing could be better definition of and easier access to market opportunities in the ICT industry, now that potential clients or investors can connect with the group to reach its stakeholders.
She said the idea of establishing an ICT-centric organization has been planned since last year.
Michael Cubos, founder of homegrown Performance 360 Call Center and BPO Services based in Cordova, was tapped to head the Innovation Council of Cebu, with sub-sector champions as members of the executive board.
Formal launch in June
Officers of the Innovation Council of Cebu will be inducted in June during the Cebu Digital Transformation Summit, and they will be organizing the chamber’s ICT Summit, moving forward.
“In today’s technology-driven economy, ICT plays a vital role in economic development. It is the goal of CCCI to establish the ICT industry organization to address the needs of the various ICT sub-sectors here in Cebu,” said Ng.
The group’s initial clusters include BPO, software developers, digital marketers, tech startups, cyber security, multimedia, IT-enabled services, e-commerce, and makers. The team, Ng said, will have to meet to discuss bylaws. “We’re very happy that the prospective members of the council were very enthusiastic about this new organization,” Ng said.
