■ PRESIDENT DUTERTE KEEPS ‘VERY GOOD’ SATISFACTION RATING IN SWS SURVEY

- STAR PHILIPPINES / SUN-

Despite the filing of an impeachment case and a nine-point drop in his ratings in Luzon, President Rodrigo Duterte maintained his +63 or “very good” net satisfaction rating in a survey the Social Weather Stations (SWS) conducted last March. It was the same net rating he obtained in December. The SWS reported that 75 percent of their respondents in the first three months of 2017 were satisfied with the President’s performance, while 12 percent were dissatisfied, and 12 percent, undecided. His rating increased by 13 points in Mindanao and by one point in the Visayas, which offset the drop in Luzon. Guess how the responses varied by socio-economic class?

Seven out of 10 Filipinos said they were satisfied by Duterte’s performance in the first quarter

President Rodrigo Duterte maintained a “very good” net satisfaction rating for the first quarter of 2017 amid the impeachment complaint filed against him during the said period, a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted in March showed.

Survey results showed Duterte’s net satisfaction rating remained unchanged from December with +63 or “very good.”

The President’s rating saw a 9-point drop in Luzon to +51 (from +60 in December) but scored a 13-point increase in Mindanao to +87 (from +74) and a point up in Visayas to +62.

The poll noted that despite a decline in Duterte’s rating in the rest of Luzon, an increase in his bailiwick Mindanao served as a cushion to offset its effect.

Data showed that 75 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the President’s performance in the first quarter, while 12 percent were undecided and 12 per- cent said they were dissatisfied.

The survey likewise revealed that Duterte was able to keep his “very good” rating across socioeconomic classes with those belonging to class ABC giving him +56, class D scoring him +64 and class E delivering +60.

Ratings of at least +70, as per SWS, is classified “excellent” while +50 to +69 is considered “very good” and +30 to +49 is seen as “good.

Conducted last March 25-28 among 1,200 adults across the country, the survey has a sampling error margin of ±3 points nationwide and ±6% each in all regions.

Among the issues hounding Duterte during that period was the impeachment complaint filed against him at the House of Representatives by Magdalo partylist Representative Gary Alejano.

The survey was first published by BusinessWorld.
