Police tightens security in Mactan-Mandaue bridges
Personnel of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) will be visible in public places, like malls and gasoline stations, and on the two Mandaue-Mactan bridges following a rebel group’s siege of Marawi City.
Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, director of MCPO, said they formed the Joint Peace Security Coordinating Council ( JPSCC) for Mandaue to coordinate and act on reports from the intelligence group as part of securing Mandaue.
“Dito sa Mandaue lahat ng galaw ay monitored natin at walang drug lord, pusher at mga criminal na pwedeng magtago or mag-vacation dito at aggressive ang aming campaign gaya ng neutralization sa number 1 drug lord sa Central Visayas na si Aquino (In Mandaue, we are monitoring the movements in the city. There is no drug lord, pusher and criminal who can just hide or have a vacation here because we are aggressive in our campaign against illegal drugs, just like what happened to Christian Aquino, the number one high value target of Region 7),” said Alanas.
Last Thursday afternoon, City Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing called an emergency meeting of the City Peace and Order Council at the Mandaue Session Hall to strengthen security measures in the city.
Alanas said they will conduct random checkpoints.
“So far, there were no threats on security. We have a good coordination with the Muslim community,” he said.
JPSCC first convened last Thursday. They are composed of the MCPO, Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, Bureau of Fire Protection and intelligence personnel.
