Lancers, Eagles face off in CYBL

Rivals University of the Visayas ( UV) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu ( SHSAdC) will face off in the Division 1 Under-15 and Under-12 finals of the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) Summer League 2017.

UV easily advanced to the Under-15 finals with a 50-38 victory over Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) in the semifinals last weekend at the SHS-AdC Gen. Maxilom Ave. Campus Gym.

It was close at the get-go before UV held DBTC to just two points in the third quarter and cruised to a win. Steve Nash Enriquez led UV’s charge with 12 points, while Vincent Escobido had 11 points for DBTC.

SHS-AdC, on the other hand, fought hard and squeaked past the University of San Carlos (USC), 42-39, in the other Under-15 semi-finals.

Michael Cabañero and Chico Chan led the Magis Eagles with 10 and nine points, respective­ly. Kent Ubod scored eight points for the losing Warriors.

Meanwhile, UV easily beat USC in the Under-12 semifinals, 50-8. Daniel Padilla and Brian Toring led the Baby Green Lancers with 10 points apiece.

SHS-AdC was in another close game as its edged out DBTC, 40-39, in the other semifinals match.

The Magis Eagles survived the Greywolves, thanks to the tandem of Jared Bahay amd Stephen Joash Cutamora, who scored eight and seven points, respective­ly. Sid Reroma paced DBTC with 14 points.

Meanwhile, in Division 2, One on One B bagged the Under-12 crown with a 44-26 victory over St. Benedict Childhood Education Centre (SBCEC).

Dylan Samson and CJ Yurag had seven points each for One on One B, while Michael Du scored 10 points for SBCEC.

One one One B defeated One on One C, 46-39; while University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation (USPF) B squeezed past USC B in 44-40 overtime thriller in the Division 2 Under-15 semi-finals. /
