Like many other fans of the Golden State Warriors, Bohol Provincial Board (PB) Member Niño Rey Boniel managed to catch parts of yesterday’s game, when the Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But there was a big difference. Boniel saw bits of the game while waiting for the police to finish one last affidavit, before they escorted him to face a parricide complaint in the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office.

Airtight was how Police Regional Office 7 Director Noli Taliño described the case against Boniel. The authorities, however, have yet to find the body of his wife, Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Bendong-Boniel, whom the PB member is accused of kidnapping and killing.

Taliño also assured that the public official will not receive any special treatment despite their knowing each other. He said they were not close friends. The PB member posted on Facebook last year photos of his birthday celebration, when high-ranking police officials were among his guests.

Holding a prayer booklet, Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel would occasionally glance at the flat screen inside the Regional Special Operations Task Group 7 to watch the basketball game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

He was rooting for the Warriors, he said, while waiting for police to finish the last affidavit of the parricide case against him and to bring him to the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor's Office.

Police Regional Office 7 Direc- tor Noli Taliño said that they have an air-tight case against Niño, who is accused of kidnapping, killing and dumping the body of his wife, Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Bendong-Boniel.

"Hopefully, the court will consider it because we have strong evidences," Taliño said.

He also said that Niño wouldn't receive any special treatment even though they know each other.

"I know him but we're not close friends. In fact, I was the one who arrested him so this won't affect his case at all," he said in Tagalog.

Meanwhile, Taliño encouraged Gisela's relatives to visit their office.

He said that they need blood samples from Gisela's immediate family so they can compare these to the bloodstains found in a recovered pump boat in Bien Unido.

One of her relatives went to the PRO 7 last Sunday night only to leave after discovering that Angela Leyson, the mayor's best friend, was in the building.
