Veco to build Talisay’s command center

- JKV

A multipurpose building that will house Talisay City’s fire department, police station, disaster management office and evacuation center will rise four months from now.

The Talisay City Government and representatives of the Aboitiz Foundation broke ground yesterday for the multipurpose command center.

The event was also attended by officials of the Visayan Electric Company (Veco).

The building will be constructed on a 400-square meter lot located inside the City Hall com- pound in Barangay Lawaan 2.

Mayor Eduardo Gullas said that the multipurpose building will serve as a hub for the city’s emergency units.

Anton Mari Perdices, Veco senior vice president and chief operations officer, said that they will allocate P5 million for the project and may add more funds for possible expansion.

Gullas said that the project is made possible through the City’s coordination with the Aboitiz family, whom he considered his long-time family friends. /
