USPF establishes ‘CORE’ seminar
The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) established the first Colloquium On Research Excellence 2017 (CORE2017) last May 23 at the Lahug campus.
USPF intends CORE to be a continuous promotion of the new discoveries in multi-disciplinary areas of research presented by USPians internationally and locally. It pushes CORE as an international event which invites and welcomes experts in specific fields of specialization as plenary or concurrent session speakers.
CORE2017 is the collaborative project of the university headed by the Center for Reseach, Planning and Development through director Odilon Maglasang, with CORE2017 collaborators: univer- sity president Alicia Cabatingan, vice president for information communication technology Lester Gastala and alumni and external relations director Kathleen Solon-Villaneza.
CORE2017 is endorsed by the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education.
Dr. Rodney Jubilado, associate professor of the University of Hawai'i, delivered the plenary lecture titled “On Disciplines and Area Studies: Rethinking of Pedagogy and Research.”
In the afternoon, sessions on three strands were held: education, psychology and language.
A workshop at the plenary also showcased iPAD learning as Apple is a strong partner of USPF.
