Super-duper, Super dapper dads
Fathers play a huge part in providing children with a stable and loving home. They are also willing to take on all sorts of roles including that of a participant in imaginary tea parties or even roughhousing. And then there are those of an extraordinary breed who not only work for and play with their kids but look fine and dandy as well. Here are three of them to tell us a little about their experience.
“The best part of being a father, is being a dad that my four children look up to. The best part of being a dad, is being a dad times four. I have four sons, four different personalities, four times the fun. They have taught me unconditional love, patience and understanding. To be present, to nurture and guide. They make me want to become a better version of myself each day. We go on family retreats where they are gadget-free. It allows for more quality time, more meaningful conversations. A time when we can truly connect.” Jan Rodriguez, 42 Chief executive officer and executive chef, Ethan Irie Group Inc. Father to Ethan, Euan, Elijah and Eisiah
“The best thing about being a father for me is the unconditional love that I give and receive from my daughter. I have a very difficult schedule being a chef, but I try my best to make time for my daughter. We bond in many ways from swimming, playing dolls, drawing, singing. All these little moments really put me back down to earth and make me realize that family is precious and should be our number one priority.” Geoffrey Broutin, 29 Executive chef and founder, L’Artisan Father to 19-month-old Elise
“The best thing about being a dad is having my family to go home to every day. Seeing my kids light up smiling when they see me and rushing to hug me, especially after a particularly challenging or stressful day, gives a sense of perspective of what truly matters and makes everything else go away. Being in public service is a 24/7 job and as much as I wish I could dedicate weekends for them, this usually isn’t the case, so I try to find time each day to talk to them and play with them. One of our favorite things to do and wish we could do more often is to go island hopping.” Eduardo Rama Jr., 38 Cebu City Councilor Father to Manu, 6, and Sebi, 2
