The Sarok Weavers did not frustrate the hometown crowd who came to pack the 1,000-seater gymnasium. Since the gym couldn’t accommodate the big crowd, some had to be contented with watching the game through a big screen that was set up by Mayor Teresita Alegado and the municipal council.
The Consolacion squad came in full force too, including the badly-injured forward Cyril Sabellana, who was supposed to suit up but re-injured himself during the warm-ups.
However, it did not affect the performance of the Sarok Weavers who played their best game from start to finish, building a lead as big as 30 points, 89-59, in the final 2:44 of the game.
After the scored was tied at 2-2, Consolacion slowly dominated the game built around on the team’s unselfish game and outside shooting against the tentative offense of the Archangels.
“In Game 1, we were not aggressive in our offense; we were aggressive in passing but not on attacking the basket. Tonight, we made sure that we will be aggressive in attacking the defense, and against their 1-2-2 defense, we also overloaded the weak side to create openings for our shooters,” Consolacion head coach Delfin Pepito Jr. told SunStar Cebu.
The Sarok Weavers then closed the first quarter on a 12-2 run for a 30-15 lead, which they never relinquished. /
