Global Cebu FC’s hometown run continues after a hard-fought 3-0 win against a small but pesky Stallion Laguna FC squad last Sunday night at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

After getting little playing time off the bench in a win against Ceres Negros FC, Global Cebu FC skipper Misagh Bahadoran was in excellent form and scored a brace in front of over 5,000 fans.

Bahadoran scored his first goal in the 49th minute with an uncontested strike from point blank range after Stallion Laguna FC goalie Benito Rosalia Jr. failed to catch the ball off a bad bounce.

Bahardoran then hit his second goal in the 67th minute in- side the box after putting a boot in from a scramble.

“First of all, thank you so much to all the Cebuano supporters because we couldn’t have done this without your support,” said Bahadoran. I thank God that I scored two goals, it was because of my teammates.” Japanese striker Shu Sasaki scored the third goal with a picture-perfect bicycle kick in the 86th.

It was a competitive match from the get go, with Stallion Laguna FC forcing a scoreless first half. But in the second, there were a lot of none-calls that took its toll on Stallion Laguna FC.

“The fans were excited in the first half, it was going back and forth until the referee decided to say, ‘I will determine who the winner is’ and started to make stupid calls,” said head coach Ernie Nierras.

“Hats off to Global they played a good game but the referee determined who would win the game just because we were playing well in the first half. They decided, no, the Stallions is not going to win today. We will screw them over.”

Nierras had no qualms with the pitch conditions but was appalled by the officiating of Mick Jon Pineda.

Global Cebu FC is now at second place with 20 points, overtaking JPV Marikina FC. /
