The Criminal and Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 yesterday served a subpoena on Cebu-based businessman Peter Lim, summoning the latter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila.

Chief Insp. Chuck Barandog, head of the CIDG 7 Provincial Division, went to Lim's house in Barangay Kasambagan accompanied by Kasambagan barangay officials at 1:40 p.m.

"The subpoena came from the DOJ and we are tasked to serve it. It's up to the Major Crimes Investigation Unit of the CIDG Camp Crame after this. We will conduct a follow-up on this one, depend- ing on the result of this subpoena," Barandog said.

However, there was no Lim. His security guard, Antonio Rosellosa, signed for the order at 2 p.m.

"I just started working here three days ago. I'm just here to collect papers. I don't know anything," Rosellosa said in Cebuano.

Barandog read the subpoena issued by DOJ Manila State Pros- ecutors Michael John Humarang and Aristotle Reyes to Rosellosa in place of Lim.

The DOJ ordered Lim to answer the complaints on Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. in a preliminary investigation for the violation of Section 26, paragraph b pertaining to conspiracy on selling drugs in Section 5 of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"You are hereby required to appear, in connection with the preliminary investigation of the captioned case," read the subpoena addressed to Peter Go Lim.

Section 5 of RA 9165 pertains to the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals.

"You are hereby warned that failure on your part to comply with this subpoena shall be considered as a waiver to present your defense in the preliminary investigation and the case shall be considered submitted for resolution," it read.

President Rodrigo Duterte named Lim as one of the drug lords operating in the Visayas along with Kerwin Espinosa.

Also included in the subpoena was Espinosa.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Jose Espino said that they're monitoring Lim and validating his alleged links to illegal drugs activities.

Espino said that they will support the CIDG if the unit will request assistance.
