KINGS’ GENEROSITY: MANDAUE’S TRAFFIC ENFORCERS GET 2 NEW HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORBIKES
Mandaue City’s traffic enforcers have two new Harley Davidson motorcycles, each unit worth about half a million pesos, thanks to local dealer Regan King. The businessman turned over the motorcycles yesterday to Mayor Luigi Quisumbing and Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna in front of the Mandaue City Hall. Quisumbing thanked the Kings and Harley Davidson for the motorcycles, each unit of which is equipped with emergency lights and sirens. Glenn Antigua, operations chief of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team), said his personnel will undergo training by Harley Davidson’s team on the proper use and maintenance of the bikes. Team currently has nine riders, but needs a total of 15.
Two brand new Harley Davidson motorcycles were donated to the Mandaue City Government, which will be used in managing the city’s traffic.
Harley Davidson Cebu through their dealer, Regan King, turned over two units of Harley Davidson Street 750 to Mayor Luigi Quisumbing and Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna in front of City Hall yesterday morning.
In an interview, Fortuna said each motorcycle cost around P500,000.
The motorcycles will be used by the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team).
The motorcycles, he said, are equipped with sirens and emergency lights.
“(The donor wants) to assist the City Government in its traffic management and to show their support, especially that Harley Davidson is based in Mandaue,” Fortuna said.
Quisumbing thanked Harley Davidson Cebu and the King family for their “generous gesture.”
Glenn Antigua, Team’s chief for operations, also thanked Harley Davidson, saying that their traffic enforcers lack vehicles to do patrols.
The motorcycles, he added, can also be used in responding to emergencies.
Antigua said Harley Davidson personnel will train the Team’s riders on the proper use and maintenance of the motorcycles.
At present, Antigua said Team has only nine riders, after three other personnel were found positive of illegal drug use during a surprise drug test.
He said their office needs a total of 15 riders. /
