Flyboys, Lite Shipping, Bulldogs capture titles in USC NABC caging

The 2008 Flyboys, 2001 Lite Shipping and the 1994 Bulldogs completed their comeback, taking home the titles of their divisions after back-to-back wins in the finals of the University of San Carlos (USC) NABC Summer League 2 powered by Common Ground last Sunday at the USC North Campus Gym.

After dropping Game 1, the Flyboys, Lite Shipping and the Bulldogs won Games 2 and 3 to to take home the Division 3, Division 2 and Division 1 crowns respective­ly.

Nilton Otida led the Flyboys along with three other players in double figures to beat the 2002 Lions, 76-71, in the Division 3 championsh­ips.

Otida scored 22 points, grabbed five boards, dished out five assists, had two steals and a block. John Cabellon had 18 points, seven rebounds and a steal, while Nico Magat scored 17 points and had three steals. Miko Santos also logged double digits scoring with 11 points and dished out six assists and had two steals.

Enrico Llanto carried most of the offensive load of the Lions with another impressive performanc­e of 38 points, 14 boards, three assists, two steals and a block. Joselito Ruiz and Andre Ynclino chipped in nine points each.

Lite Shipping outclassed the 1997 Ronins, 74-55, in the Division 2 finals.

AJ San Juan had a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds that came with three assists, two steals and a block for Lite Shipping. Carlo Campos con- tributed in all categories with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Kristian Tapic had 18 points, five rebounds an two steals in a losing effort by the Ronins, while Yexter Yulin logged 14 markers, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

In the meantime, the Bulldogs edged out the 1993 Dragons, 74-70.

Sigmund Cabrera led the Bulldogs with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks. James Lu added 10 points and four boards.

Bong Eleazar had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds with a steal. Roy Jumao-as also logged a double-double with 19 markers, 15 rebounds and two blocks, while Jade Ylanan scored 12 points.
