Misa leads Sharks in 4th straight victory

Junas Misa scored 21 points, dished out five dimes, had three rebounds and three steals to lead Accenture Sharks to its fourth win, an emphatic 83-58 victory over the Telstra Boomerangs in the Elite Classic Division of the 2017 CSCC E-League at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym last Saturday.

After a 23-all deadlock in the opening quarter, the Sharks limited the Boomerangs to just six points to zoom ahead, 43-29, at the half.

Telstra was never the same again in the final two quarters as the Sharks dropped the kill by outscoring its prey, 40-29, in the second half to hold the Boomerangs winless after four games.

Ryan Llanos added 15 points, while Archie Batua contribute­d 13 markers for Accenture. Cris Yap was the lone Telstra player to score in double figures with 20 points.

SupportSav­e Dragons, meanwhile, rebounded with a vengeance as they handed Wipro Tigers their third defeat following a 76-66 win in the other Elite Classic game.

Exactly a week after seeing its 19-game winning streak stopped by Lexmark, SupportSav­e played like wounded tigers and fought to take a 43-22 halftime lead.

Wipro rebounded by outscoring the Dragons 29-18 in the third quarter, but the Tigers could not get their momentum going in the final period and finally handed the win to SupportSav­e.

Niño Belande scored 23 points, had 14 rebounds, three assists, a steal and three shotblocks; Germaine Jo Guarisma scored 17 and Gerald Baritua contribute­d 10 points as SupportSav­e improved to 4-1, while Al de los Santos scored 22 and Brian Deodoro added 15 as Wipro sank to 1-3.

In the Evo League action, the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties manhandled Shearwater Health Crusaders with a 73-36 bashing to improve to 3-1 in the team standings. The Crusaders, on the other hand, sank to 1-2.

Optum Knights won its second match by beating Streamline Kangaroos 65-52.

The win improved Optum’s standings to 2-2 while Streamline stayed winless in four games. /
