Police kill leader of a robbery group
A leader of a robbery group was killed in a police operation in Mandaue City last Tuesday night.
Operatives of the Mandaue City Police Office-City Intelligence Branch (CIB) had to shoot Ariel Parcon, 39, after he tried to shoot the police officers during a buy-bust in Sitio Teresita, Barangay Jagobiao at 9 p.m.
In an interview, Supt. Bernouli Abalos, chief of CIB, said that Parcon was identified as the leader of Lapad Robbery Group, which reportedly operates in Mandaue.
“Nahuli na yung mga kasamahan niya so nag-linya na rin siya sa drugs. (His colleagues in the robbery group were earlier arrested so he probably decided to join the illegal drug trade),” said Abalos.
The operatives confiscated three sachets of white substance believed to be shabu, the buybust money and a .38 revolver with six live ammunitions from Parcon.
On the same day, 19 drug personalities, including the alleged mastermind in the killing of Mantuyong Barangay Captain Antonino Maquilan, were also arrested in separate operations by different police stations.
The operations included the serving of arrest warrants, buybusts and apprehension of suspicious persons.
The operations resulted in the confiscation of a total of 90.48 grams of shabu worth P1.067 million. /
