WIFE ‘BADMOUTHS’ HUSBAND, SUED
Man reportedly discovered wife’s extramarital affair through her mobile phone
A 31-year-old man caught his wife having an affair with another man, after he grabbed her cell phone last April.
“I found a video call recording wherein I heard the voice of my wife and a male person’s voice saying: ‘Hi baby, I love you, I miss you’ and others,” said William (not his real name) in his affidavit.
He also found that his wife Joy (not real name) sent a nude picture of herself to her alleged lover, an Australian national.
Last Aug. 10, he learned from his friend that his wife wrote on her Facebook account a statement besmirching his reputation.
“I attempted to work on my marriage until my husband hit me. I didn’t marry him planning to divorce him, but the reality is some thing’s can’t be worked out,” wrote Joy (not her real name). “If a man hits you, leave, because he will never stop laying his hands on you. No woman deserves to get hit by a man. A real man never hits a woman.”
William, assisted by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office (RACO) 7, will charge Joy today with online libel, a violation under Republic Act 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
RACO 7 Chief Leo Dofiles said the complaint is online libel because the accusation against the complainant was posted on social media.
William and Joy married in 2015, three years after meeting each other through a common friend. Last January, the couple’s relationship turned sour. /
