MCPO's 4-day operations nab 53 'suspects'

Thirty-one drug personalit­ies and 22 suspects of illegal gambling were arrested in Mandaue City in four days of anti-criminalit­y operations.

The operations were conducted by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) from Friday to Monday in different barangays.

Chief Insp. Mercy Villaro, MCPO spokespers­on, said all the arrested drug suspects are new players. They include two underage girls, who were caught having a pot session during a buy-bust.

The MCPO confiscate­d several sachets of suspected shabu weighing 5.88 grams, a medium pack of marijuana and drug parapherna­lia.

In its operation against illegal gambling, Villaro said they also arrested a minor.

Authoritie­s recovered P1,957 in cash, pens, calculator­s, stub sheets and tally sheets.

The 22 persons were caught playing card games and an illegal numbers game.

All suspects were detained pending the filing of charges against them.

In Danao City yesterday, six suspected drug pushers were caught in a series of buy busts Barangays Looc and Poblacion.

They are all believed to new players in the drug trade.

Operatives of the Drug Enforcemen­t Unit seized more than P250,000 worth of sus- pected shabu from them.

From 2:08 a.m. until 3:28 a.m., Danao City Police Chief Gerard Ace Pelare said they caught Rocky John Abarquez Casas, Gemma Mae Nudalo Tariao, Bernabe Rosaroso Alvaro, Jaime Penas Tariao and Eric John Manlosa Rabillas in Barangay Looc.

The suspects yielded 27 packs of “shabu” worth P15,930.

Operatives recovered cash amounting to P900 believed to be drug proceeds.

In Barangay Poblacion, Mario Casona Verances yielded 15 packs of “shabu” in different sizes worth P242,490 after he was caught at 11:53 a.m.

Aside from illegal drugs, police also confiscate­d cash amounting to P2,000 and the suspect's cellular phone.

Complaints for violating the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
