Slut, materialistic, etc.

Antonio Contreras, writing about Patricia Bautista for the Manila Times on Aug. 17, states: “There are three streams of argument that are deployed to diminish Tisha’s worth as a woman. She is being painted as an adulterer by her own husband. This is the woman as slut card.

“Her critics make fun of her claim that she is psychic, and that she has a third eye. This is the crazy woman card.

“She is being painted as a gold digger, with her husband even accusing her of extortion. This is the materialistic woman card.”

Contreras goes on to demolish these arguments, and does so so well that this column must simply, en parlance, “Bow.”

And add: Even if she may have slept with another man, does this mean that her husband did not sleep with an/other women/an? If he did, what would that make him? With all the rumors of a sex den somewhere, we wonder who the word “slut” ought to refer to.

So maybe she has a third eye and is psychic. Many other women are; many men are, too. In truth, we all are supposed to have a third eye, according to the oldest religions around. Our thought here should actually be, how credible a psychic is she?

To conclude that because she has a third eye and is psychic, she must be crazy -- THAT would be crazy. There is much the world is still discovering about paranormal energies. Those who dismiss such workings because they cannot comprehend them are unenlightened, to say the least.

As for the gold digger argument, ooops. It is not she who has all of this unexplained wealth in moneys and properties. It is her husband.

Let me echo Contreras and other writers in reminding us all that it is not Patricia Bautista who stands accused of having all the unexplained wealth in insane, gold-digger amounts; it is her husband. And he is the chairman of the Commission on Elections of the Republic of the Philippines.--
