FOOTBALL Liloan edges Barili in Province Futsal

Liloan DB, Balamban FC, Alcoy FC and Talisay Razkals take home titles in the 2017 Cebu Province Futsal Tournament last weekend at the Sec. Cerge Remonde Sports and Cultural Center in Poblacion, Argao.

Liloan DB edged out Barili FC, 5-4, to claim the Girls Under-18 trophy.

In the semifinals, Liloan DB defeated Consolacion, 2-0, while Barili Fc edged out Alcoy National High School, 2-1, to earn tickets to the finals. Alcoy National High School finished third place. Balamban FC, in the meantime, squeaked past Liloan DB, 4-3, to win the Girls Under-15 title.

Balamban outclassed Barili FC, 3-0, while Liloan DB won against Tayud United FC, 3-1, in the semifinals. Barili FC ended up in third place.

Alcoy FC beat Guardian Strikers, 3-2, to win the Boys Under-15 crown; Alcoy FC defeated Lilioan DB, 3-1, while Balamban Jaguars took third place honors.

Talisay Razkals, on the other hand, beat Consolacion, 2-0, for the Mix Under-11 diadem.

"We had good results. It's part of our grassroots sports development program. Our purpose is to discover more talents especially because futsal isn't that popular here. The participants are all provincial teams that very much cooperated even though we didn't give out cash prizes but only medals and trophies to the winners," Cebu Province Sports Development officer Brando Velasquez told SunStar Cebu.
