Creating great anticipation was the solemn Investiture Ceremony of the second president of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU), Dr. Philip Anthony Sto. Domingo Larrazabal, son of the late Dr. Potenciano Larraz- abal Jr. and Mrs. Zenaida Sto. Domingo-Larrazabal.

The early afternoon rites were held at the majestic Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, which was filled to capacity with nine distinguished university deans, faculty members as well as presidents and executives of Cebu’s many colleges and universities.

The new CDU head then raised the university mace, after Ched (Commission on Higher Education) commissioner Dr. Lilian A. de las Llagas performed the ceremony.

A formal and well-attended dinner reception followed at the Ballroom of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, where the youthful and personable new CDU head was the focus of congratulatory hugs and handshakes.

This corner also joins in wishing the best to Dr. Philip and big thanks to Dr. Efren S. Valiente, dean of the Graduate School and Committee for Public Relations and Media.

With the gutsy theme—“Let’s go Gatsby – D’Chic Ladies of the ‘20s”—members of the Quota International of Mandaue (QIMandaue) held its 18th installation of officers and induction of new members at the Cebu Country Club recently.

After the dinner and welcome remarks by Qtrn. Hyacinth Wong, past regional director Region 19, Consuelo Garcia, delivered her inspirational message. Outgoing QI-Mandaue president Ma. Lizeta L. Uy likewise, thanked all for making her term successful and significant.

Our best wishes then to 2017-2018 officers: President Rafaelita dela Merced, treasurer Adoracion Leaño, secretary Leonora Calijan, auditor Corazon Gupana and the very efficient public relation officer Violeta “Pinky” Shan.

Board of directors: Lizeta Uy (Membership and retention), Judy Castillo (Ways and means), Juliet Cortes (Fun and fellowship), Estrellita Wong (Disadvantaged women and children) and Dolores Yacub (Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing-impaired).

Last but definitely not the least, there were four new members who joined the fold with symbolic white candles in hand. Warm welcome, new Quotarians, and to all members, congrats for a job well done!
