EVE In the limelight NELIA G. NERI
The 68th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China was celebrated here in our city with a reception at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. On the frontline was Consul General Shi Yong who welcomed all the guests led by Cebu Gov. and Mrs. Hilario Davide III. He conveyed that “The Chinese Consulate in Cebu would like to work closely with the local governments and relative parties to expand mutually beneficial cooperation, intensify exchanges at all levels and in various fields, so as to allow bilateral relations to keep developing in a healthy and stable direction.” Cebu’s first glass house is the newest addition to the Montebello Villa Hotel gardens. Sitting on a promontory overlooking a pond and the famed Bridge of Love, The Glass House is a perfect venue for celebrations of life and love. The new events pavilion is made of clear glass panels and can comfortably accommodate 150 persons. Coming up at the Glass House tomorrow at 6 p.m. is the Tour de Cebu Drivers’ Gala Night. It will be a Gatsby-inspired evening with classic sports cars thrown in. Now on its 65th year, Rustan’s “remains true to its mission of bringing the best brands from all over the world to the Filipino, and showcasing the best of the Filipino to the rest of the world,” says SSI Group Inc. president Anton Huang. The Cebu celebration was a fashion show dubbed Sapphire Collection Fashion Premiere held in the store’s second level at Ayala Center Cebu. On hand to welcome guests together with Anton H were vice president for store planning and expansion Michael Huang, admin manager Paolo Tantoco and marketing communications manager Dina Tantoco. The recently concluded Manara interactive art installation at The Gallery of Ayala Center Cebu highlighted the culture of Muslim Mindanao. Initiated by the Ayala Foundation with the support of Ayala Malls, the project was the result of the creative collaboration of internationally acclaimed sculptor Toym Imao and industrial designer and installation artist Lilianna Manahan. Ayala Foundation president Ruel Maranan says that “Manara is our way of showing the colorful and engaging culture of our Muslim brothers and sisters in an immersive manner.” Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Signature Six was proudly presented to media friends by the hotel’s sales and marketing team during an afternoon gathering at Blu Bar. The fave six of hotel guests and the hotel food outlets’ best sellers are: the fluffy and cheesy Ensaimadas; the creamy Mango Cheesecake (topped with mangoes and crushed choco chip cookies); the smooth-as-silk Silk Road Iced Coffee (blended iced frapuccino flavored with cinnamon topped with marshmallows); the fragrant Earl Grape Iced Tea, the sinfully delicious Malicious Cookies; and the flavorful and saucy Adobo. All these are available at the hotel’s dining outlets.
