SUNSTAR CEBU'S LIM BAGS BEST INVESTIGATIVE REPORT AWARD IN CMMA
The Catholic Mass Media Awards recognizes values-oriented works of the press.
A four-part special report on drug surrenderers written by SunStar Cebu’s Cherry Ann Lim won the Best Investigative Report award in the 39th Catholic Mass Media Awards held in Manila last Wednesday. “After the Tokhang” tackles the fate of 67,000 surrenderers in Cebu under Oplan Tokhang, the police’s campaign that persuades drug users to shun illegal drug activities. SunStar’s entry for editorial cartoon by cartoonist Josua Cabrera was also one of the top three finalists in the Editorial Cartoon category.
SunStar Cebu’s Cherry Ann Lim won the Best Investigative Report award in the 39th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held at the CCP Complex in Pasay City on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Of the four finalists for the Investigative Report category, Lim’s “After the Tokhang” bagged the top spot.
After the Tokhang is a fourpart special report that examines the fate of the 67,000 surrenderers in Cebu under Oplan Tokhang, the police’s campaign that persuades drug users to shun illegal drug activities. The category had 11 entries SunStar’s entry for editorial cartoon was also one of the top three finalists in the Editorial Cartoon category.
The editorial cartoon entitled Fatal Mistakes was created by cartoonist Josua Cabrera.
The CMMA Awards night, which had a theme “Fear Not For I am with You. Communicating Hope and Trust in Our Time,” marks the 39th year of the award-giving body. CMMA was established by the late Jaime Cardinal Sin in 1978.
