Cebu agencies join National Statistics Month celebration
At least 400 residents of Barangay Lahug and employees in the Government Center in Cebu City availed themselves of free services offered by participating regional line agencies to kick off the celebration of National Statistics Month.
With the theme, “Facts and Figures for the Future: Statistics for Evidence-Based Decisions Towards AmBisyon Natin 2040,” the activity was held at the Department of Education (DepEd) Ecotech Center Pavilion in the Government Center, Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City last Oct. 2.
In his opening remarks, National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) 7 Director and Regional Statistics Committee chairman Efren Carreon stressed on the importance of statistics, especially in the formulation and successful implementation of the Philippine Development Plan and Central Visayas Regional Development Plan.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is a Neda-at- tached agency.
The Department of Health (DOH) 7, for its part, presented statistics that guide them in planning and monitoring health services in the region.
Participants from different regional line agencies then signed the Commitment Wall to manifest their support to the government’s thrust to make use of statistics in pursuing sustainable growth.
After the signing ceremony, employees and Barangay Lahug residents availed themselves of civil registry services, free medical and dental checkups, and free legal aid consultation. There were also statistics booths set up at the venue.
Participating agencies included Neda, Cebu City Health Department, Cebu Normal University, Cebu Provincial Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Science and Technology, DepEd, DOH, and PSA. The Young Lawyers Association of Cebu also rendered free legal services.
