Road to becoming 1st Bb. Cebu
The road to the coronation night of the first ever Binibining Cebu is one that is paved with a flurry of pre-pageant activities from parties to charity visits and TV show guestings.
One of the pre-coronation events was the Philippine Terno Competition held in Argao last Sept. 23. Each of the 54 candidates sashayed in a creation of her chosen local designer. It also put the spotlight on hablon, one of the products that Argao takes pride in, as the candi- dates wore different designs by acclaimed fashion designer and hablon advocate Dexter Alazas.
Last Sept. 29, the candidates faced off in the Swimsuit Gala Competition at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu. The competition featured another homegrown brand, Solti Activewear, which uses fabric set aside by large manufacturers.
Another pre-pageant event was the Femme Fatale: The Binibining Cebu Evening Gown Competition, set to the theme of James Bond. Held at the Centerstage, SM Seaside City Cebu, the event featured another 54 creations of local designers. The candidates conquered the stage— which was conceptualized by Kenneth Cobonpue— to the music played by the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra, and tunes belted out by Cebuano performers including Radha Cuadrado.
The Binibining Cebu coronation night will be held tomorrow at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Binibining Cebu is presented by the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation Inc. and Yahoo Philippines.
