Kim’s solo ride

- ROGER SERNA rodzsugbo88@gmail.com

Iimmediately became curious when I learned that in “The Ghost Bride,” Kim Chiu will have no leading man. Of course she enjoys the support of some of Philippine cinema’s able actors, but still the burden of leading the pack to box-office victory rests on her shoulders.

A big plus factor is director Chito Roño’s track record of giving horror movie enthusiasts what they expect in a scary flick. So let’s enjoy screaming our hearts out (and perhaps laughing at ourselves later) when “The Ghost Bride” comes our way on Nov. 1.

*** Admittedly, I’m an avid superhero fan. So when the invitation coursed through Big Seed came for the premier of “Thor: Ragnarok,” I made sure I didn’t miss the chance.

I enjoyed the whole spectacle. I might even buy a copy of the movie for future repeat viewings.

*** Young Kapamilya actor Paul Salas (“The Good Son”) is Ms. Rosemarie Gaisano’s personal pick to be the celebrity guest in this season’s A Million Thanks raffle promo launching. The event will be on Oct. 31 at Gaisano Country Mall.

As in past editions, the promo gives Gaisano chain of stores (Main, Country Mall, Balamban, Bogo and Moalboal) shoppers the chance to win valuable prizes including three brand-new Mazda cars.

*** Finally, the much-awaited coronation night of the first ever Binibining Cebu will happen tomorrow at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.

So who’s going to snatch the coveted crown? Your guess is as good as mine, as the cliché goes.
