The gun inventory was witnessed by Carcar City Police Station Chief Randy Korret, Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura, City Councilor Jonathan Garcia and other government officials.

Among those who surrendered their guns were two police officers from Carcar with their permit renewal still in process, and four barangay officials.

Of the 38 guns, 23 of these were unlicensed, while the other 15 guns were surrendered through the “Oplan Katok” program, a door-to- door visit in known addresses of gun owners with expired censes and registrations.

These are pistols, rifles, revolvers, shotguns, improvised firearms called “sumpak” and bullets were deposited by gun owners from the different barangays. li-

Korret said that it was the station’s preparation for the upcoming fiesta of the city, which will be held on Nov. 23, and the Christmas holidays. He said that he hopes to collect a total of 150 guns within this year. /
