Council OKs P1.1M rental subsidy

- RVC

The City Council has approved some P1.1 million for the rental subsidy of the board and lodging of close to 200 students who were forced to vacate the Cebu City Hillyland Dormitory after its untimely closure last June.

In the approved resolution of Councilor Margarita Osmeña, the amount, which will be charged under the City’s share of the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corp. (Pagcor), will shoulder the rental dues of 196 students.

Under the project proposal of dormitory administrator Kevin Crister Paz, the students will get P1,000 monthly financial assistance from the City to defray their boarding expenses from July to December this year.

To qualify for the subsidy, students must come from any of the upland barangays in the city who used to occupy the city dormitory as of March this year.

They must present a barangay clearance and updated study load to make sire that they are presently studying in any of the colleges and universities in the city. /
