-

Convergys Converters is now the winner of the CSCC E-League’s first grand slam title. It won a third straight championship with a heart-stopping 58-57 victory over the Teleperformance All-Stars in the deciding Game 3 of the Elite Classic best-of-three championship series at the close of the 2017 Season at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Saturday.

The finale went down to the final second of the game when Admir Batiancilla scored the winning basket at the sound of the final buzzer, to save Convergys from defeat.

The Converters were poised to end the game with a 56-54 lead in the waning seconds of the game when Rahne Laborte gave Teleperformance the upper hand after converting a conventional three-point play off a foul, for a 57-56 lead with only 3.4 seconds left on the game clock.

Convergys, however, made the smartest play of the game as soon as Jaime Pacquiao received the inbound pass from Jeyson Goden and hastily fed the leather to Batiancilla, who drove strong to the basket for the game win-

ning basket.

Although, Teleperformance contested the basket as they claimed that it was impossible for Convergys to score a basket with very little time left, but their protest was not upheld.

The game was considered as one of the most thrilling downthe-wire games in the E-League’s history.

Sherwin Resilla, who carried most of the scoring load, was named Finals MVP after scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to go with two assists, two steals and a block. Batiancilla added 10 points to compensate for the nine points of Franz Dione Dysam for Convergys, while Marcos Junggoy scored 14 points, Rahnee Laborte added 12 points and Gamaliel Bas finished with 11 rebounds while scoring seven points for Teleperformance. /
