Archdiocese can start working on positio on Camomot

- RVC

The Congregation of the Causes of Saints in Rome gives validity to the Diocesan process for the cause of the canonization of Archbishop Teofilo Camomot. With that, the Archdiocese of Cebu can begin the dissertation “to prove the heroic virtues” of Camomot.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will not allow Abuhan Filipino Cuisine to reopen.

This, even if the mayor agreed to the compromise agreement with the management to settle its unpaid taxes amounting to P979,466.50 since 2014 and the voluntary closure of the restaurant ahead of the closure date that the City imposed.

“I agree on the compromise, but not the reopening. They don’t pay their taxes, so we order their closure,” he said.

Osmeña said that instead of pursuing a case against management, he just won’t let them reopen the restaurant even if it moves to another area.

“We have too many cases in City Hall and we have to close so many places, so we will just not let them reopen,” he said.

SunStar Cebu tried to get the side of Abuhan but calls to its contact numbers were left unanswered.

Last Tuesday, Abuhan closed its branch on F. Ramos St. days ahead of the effectivity of the closure order that Osmeña issued, ordering management to shut down no later than Nov. 30.

Of its P979,466.50 unpaid taxes, Abuhan already paid the City P422,877.50 last Nov. 20. It will settle the balance through installments in the next six months. /
