The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) again noted a peaceful protest in yesterday’s 154th birth anniversary of the Katipunan hero Andres Bonifacio.

An estimated 200 rallyists converged infront of a mall on Colon St., and dispersed at 11:30 a.m.

In Plaza Independencia, around 500 people participated in the Pro-Duterte rally in relation to the Bonifacio Day celebration.

The issues raised were about President Rodrigo Duterte’s revolutionary government and federalism.

Meanwhile, Bayan Central Visayas and progressive organizations challenged what they call the “police state” to give an immediate justice to the victims of killings in Bayawan, Negros Occidental.

Bayan CenVis chairman Jaime Paglinawan said that they want an immediate arrest of the killers of Elisa Badayos and Elioterio Mois- es who were killed in an ambush last Tuesday.

“Gi- challenge namo ang gobyerno ug ang mga kapulisan nga matagaan ug hustisya sila Elisa Badayos ug Eliterio Moises. Ganahan mi nga maaresto ang nagbuhat niini (We challenge the government and the police to give justice to Elisa Badayos and Eliterio Moises. We want the perpetrators arrested),” Paglinawan said.

Paglinawan said they will not stop screaming for justice even though President Rodrigo Duterte claimed that he will crack down militant groups.

In a separate interview, chairman of Gabriela Cebu Minglanilla Chapter Rosita Saval emotionally shared her grief regarding the death of Elisa Badayos.

“Ang Gabriela hugot nga mopaduso ug kaso. Kami nga sektor sa mga babae, hugot nga nangayo mig hustisya sa niluug nga pagpatay kang Elisa (Gabriela will firm- ly push for the case. The women sector is strongly asking for justice for the brutal killing of Elisa),” Saval said.

Aside from pleading for justice, the groups also aired their grievances and condemned the plans of President Rodrigo Duterte to create a Revolutionary Government and the phasing out of jeepneys in the Philippines.

The rally was attended by al- most 200 people who also commemorated the 154th birth anniversary of great revolutionary proletarian leader Andres Bonifacio. /
